My Husband and Pinterest

Does your husband tease you about Pinterest?  Does he belittle it, not appreciating the many ways his homelife is bettered by it?  Mine, too!!

Actually, I think that Rowdy secretly really wants to be a part of Pinterest.  Around Valentine's Day, he sent me links to two funny zombie-related Valentine's cards.  He asked me if I was going to post them on Pinterest, and when I did, he took enormous pleasure in knowing that those were repinned several times.

Today, he sent me these:

Downton Abbey Valentines (from www.chad-thomas.com)!  Of course, Rowdy was very happy to know that I received several "repins" right away.  The one with Lady Sybil and Branson (which...I just don't like that pairing.  There's no chemistry, and I think that he's overbearing.  She's going to regret running off with him, I think) is the most-pinned.  My personal favorite is the one with "Poor Mr. Pamuk" (picture Lady Cora pursing her lips and shaking her head sadly).

Sadly, no repins on the videos of him that I posted some months ago.  I don't think that Pinners get very excited about downhill mountain biking or adorable video of Rowdy playing in the pool with our niece and nephew.

Today, I Practiced

Don't Let's Start, by They Might Be Giants
London Calling, by The Clash
I Love Rock 'n' Roll, by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
Our Lips Are Sealed, by The Go-Go's

Hopefully, I will find a bass teacher soon.  Someone needs to teach me how to move my tiny little hands faster.

Featured Blog of the Week

Jeff and Ruth's Bicycle Adventures.

This is the story of a man, a woman, and a tandem bike going from coast to coast.  In Jeff's words, they are eccentric, not crazy.  I think that they are amazing.

Two of My Favorite Valentine's Day Presents

Fender Precision bass guitar.  I am loving this!!!
And Rowdy is not in the hospital or otherwise sick for the first Valentine's Day since 2008, or maybe 2007.

I Have a Confession to Make

I don't really like dark chocolate.  People give it to me all of the time, and I just politely thank them and put it in the freezer or in the pantry on the candy shelf.  But I would only eat it in a dire chocolate emergency, such as the zombie apocalypse.

Someone's World is Going to Change Tomorrow

Sometime tomorrow, three men (I think that's the way it goes) will be sitting in an office in Salt Lake City.  A picture will flash on the screen of a charming, brown-haired young man with dimples.  They will decide where he will serve the Lord for the next two years of his life.

Sometime later this week, an envelope will arrive in a mailbox in San Diego.  Two sets of parents, some grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles and friends will cheer and (in the case of at least one step-parent) cry when the dimpled young man announces his destination.

Some weeks after that, I will say goodbye to my dear boy as his dad takes him up to the MTC.  I hate goodbyes, but I am so excited for him.  The world will open up to him.  He will be strong and true and do much good for the people he serves.

Stay tuned!

This Week in Pinterest

I made these cookies for book club, minus the frosting.
I pinned these shoes from Aldo, in addition to others in fun spring colors.  I also learned that it probably would have been stylistically more interesting if I had snapped a picture of the display at the Aldo store.  Lesson learned.

Like a Mini-Vacation

This morning, I woke up at 6:30, went for a run at 7, rolled into work at 8:30.  No procedures, just pictures of patients.  I felt so invigorated, it really was like a mini-vacation.  Then the internet went out at work, so I had to leave early.  Bonus!!  I went to lunch with the boyz and had pho.  That was the perfect thing for our rainy, gloomy weather.

The downside of having to leave was that I had to go back later to finish up, but oh well!

A Perpetual Motion Machine I Am Not

I have been a major slug for the last two weeks.  It didn't help that I brought a cold home with me from Utah, and it also does not help that I have been on call since last Friday, and will remain on call until a week from Monday.  On top of which, work has been absolutely nuts for months as far as busyness.

I want to sleep as late as I can, and when I come home, I want to just sit on the couch.  There has been no grocery shopping, no home-cooked meals, no swimming, no running, no cycling.  Definitely, there has been no exercise class-taking.  As I told a friend earlier today, I feel like I have been subsisting on Girl Scout cookies, and my fitness routine consists of a few jumping jacks here and there.

There are friends who I'd like to get together with that I have not (Sydney's Scentsy party helped alleviate that somewhat), time I'd like to spend with Rowdy that I have not, good deeds that I could do that I have not.

But, the tide is turning.  Tonight, I made my family dinner from a recipe I found on Pinterest (saucy Asian meatballs).  Tomorrow morning, I am going for a walk with my friend, Sarah.  So it's always possible to change, right?  Then it's a Jiu-Jitsu barbeque (our BBQ can beat up any other BBQ on the planet), maybe some rock climbing and watching the UFC fights, if I don't get called in to work.
My Rad Life!
