Budapest Photos

Buda Castle from across the Danube (not blue, by the way).

The ghetto appearance of the base of Buda Castle.  Lots of plywood,  broken glass and grafitti.

The Hungarian Parliament building across the Danube from Buda Castle.

Rowdy and VI.  Two world-famous redheads.  They look a little bit similar, don't they?

The Terror Museum.  Aiyiyi.  Like going to Dachau or Auschwitz.  Google it.  Terrifying.

The Iron Curtain.  Not as big as you thought it would be, is it?

Love your photos. I must have missed the post about the purpose of the trip. I love hearing about why people choose the places they do to visit. My grandpa came from Norway and my parents have wanted to go for some time. I have been meaning to pm you about advice and pointers. This trip also looked amazing!!!

We were going to go to Australia and New Zealand, but we had had our fill of very long plane trips with our trip to Chile.

Rowdy had been reading a book about the Crusades and was intrigued by Strasbourg and its Christmas Market, which has been extant since the Crusades. He's normally not very into Christmas, so the fact that he wanted to go somewhere Christmassy was pretty neat.

We have never been to Vienna, and we liked the cultural things it promised.

It was a toss-up between Budapest and Prague. Budapest was a little more exotic, I guess.
